Mercedes Thomas, APRN, CPNP, IBCLC
I’m a mother, wife, board certified pediatric nurse practitioner (CPNP), author, and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). As a new mother I had to overcome so many challenges related to breastfeeding like my son’s tongue tie diagnosis and food intolerances which led to me eliminating dairy and soy from my diet for over a year to continue breastfeeding him. I’ve gone through many of the things that new moms face which is why it’s my mission to combine my nursing expertise with my experiences as a mom to support families with evidence-based education and resources.
I have over 12 years of experience in nursing including neonatal and advanced pediatric health in both the hospital and primary care settings. I obtained my Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and with my Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of South Alabama.
In my downtime, you can find me spending time with my family, traveling, and advocating for families to have the best access to quality healthcare and breastfeeding services!
